§ 11.01. General definitions.

For the purpose of this ordinance, the following definitions shall be used. Words used in the present tense include the future; the singular number includes the plural number; and the plural number includes the singular number. The word "person" includes associations, copartnerships or corporations. The word "shall" is mandatory and not directory. The word "may" is permissive. All terms used which are defined in Wis. Stats. ch. 236 shall have the same meaning as ascribed thereto in the [that] chapter, and as the [that] chapter may hereafter be amended, unless otherwise defined in this ordinance or unless the context and subject matter clearly indicates otherwise.
